Privacy
Recur is built so your financial data never leaves your Mac. This page says exactly what does.
Last updated 19 October 2026.
On your Mac
Everything you put into Recur stays on your Mac. That includes your subscriptions, prices, payment dates, categories, notes, past payments and settings. We have no copy and no way to see it.
When you import a bank statement, Recur reads the file on your Mac. The file is never uploaded. Your licence key is kept in the macOS Keychain.
The licence server
When you buy Recur, our licence server keeps:
- your email address, so we can send your licence key and help if you lose it,
- the payment reference from Stripe, the amount and the date,
- which Macs have activated your licence, saved as anonymous scrambled IDs (hashed, so they can't be turned back into anything about your Mac), with each Mac's name and the date it was activated.
When you activate, Recur sends your licence key, that anonymous ID and your Mac's name. Now and then it checks the key is still valid. It never sends any of your subscription or bank data.
Other services
- Stripe handles the payment. We never see your card details.
- Resend sends the email with your licence key, so it sees your email address.
- Logo.dev supplies brand logos. When brand logos are on, Recur sends the name of each subscription (for example "Netflix") to fetch its logo. Nothing else is sent. You can turn this off in Settings, under "Show brand logos".
